My Hair Regimine

Last night I washed and re-twisted my hair, and let me just say nothing feels as good as freshly done hair. In this post I'm going to break down my routine.
First I was my hair with T/gel shampoo by neutrogena. This shampoo is far from natural but it does wonders for my scalp. I have eczema which gives me a lot of scalp issues and this is one of the better shampoos I've used that helps.
Normally after shampooing I would deep condition but since my hair isn't completely locked I skipped this step to avoid any extra unraveling.
Next I moisturize with my shea mixture (it contains olive oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil and tea tree oil). I massage this into my scalp and lightly coat my locks with it. Now its ready to re-twist.
My locks being started locks, I use the palm roll method. And I use eco styler gel for hold. I put a little of the eco styler gel on my finger tips, apply it to the full twist, then palm roll. This twist any new growth as well as tames any frizz. Once I finish palm rolling, I pin it down with a clip and move on to the next.
Once my full head is twisted I sit under a drier for as long as it takes for the hair to completely dry. I remove the clips and style.

My Locks!

So last night I washed an re-twist my hair (entry on that process coming soon). This being my second go around with locks, it was no task I am not use to. Last June I cut off my locks after having them for five years. I figured it was just hair, and I wanted to try something new.
I did the loose natural hair thing for six months (twist outs, braid out, afros and all). Though I loved my loose natural hair and it was fun being apart of different hair community, I missed my locks. Like, I REALLY missed my locks. So as a birthday gift to me a very close friend of mine paid for me to re-start them...greatest gift ever.
Though the initial phase (what I like to call the ugly phase)isn't so pleasant and requires a lot of patience, I couldn't be happier. Yes I'm dealing with a lot of fuzziness. Yes they still haven't completely locked. But I know what is to come and for that reason I love them :-D. Can't wait to star doing all the fun things I used to do with them; color, styles and accessories.

The Candy Rush

This past Saturday i went to a candy shop called The Candy Rush, located at 733 Franklin Ave Brooklyn. I love this place! They serve ice cream, candy, donuts, crapes, waffles...everything you need to satisfy your sweet tooth.
It isn't very big but it doesn't leave you feeling claustrophobic. There are four or five tables lined up against on side of the store and the other side has a bookshelf full of candy, the register/kitchenette and donut/ice cream display. There is also an outdoor seating able which I wasn't able to experience because it was a little chilly.
The lady behind the counter was so nice. My friend and I came with two kids, one of which was crying and throwing a fit, and she never lost her smile. As she took orders and created everyone's orders she smile and talked with him trying to cheer him up. Seemed like everyone who came in knew her personally and was happy to see her and vice versa.
My friend and I ordered waffles with ice cream and we bought a donut for the kids. Our waffles came with dulce de leche ice cream (but there are plenty other flavors to choose from) strawberry sauce (plenty of other toppings to choose from) and caramel. It was pure happiness. I have not one complaint about it. The donut was delicious too. More than enough for an 18 month old and an 8 month old. Even had half left over (didn't want to give the kids to much sugar lol).
Overall it was a great experience. I can't wait to go back. Especially during the summer when the outdoor area is open. So many other things I want to try. As a girl with a strong sweet tooth and who's wanted to own a bakery since I could remember, this place is like a dose of heaven. :-D

44 & X

This past Friday I went to a restaurant called 44 & X, located on 44th and tenth in Manhattan. The atmosphere in the restaurant is amazing. As we entered we were greeted by a more than pleasant hostess. Despite the lack of a reservation we were seated immediately.
The seating in the restaurant is very compact. To get to my seat they actually had to pull the table out. Being so close to my neighbors, it was hard to ignore their conversation. However we weren't so close that it made dinner uncomfortable.
The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. If a cup of water was running low at the table they were there to refill without asking. They were constantly checking to make sure everything was going well at the table. They definitely made for a great experience.
The food was not the greatest. I ordered the pork tenderloin with cheese grits and my date ordered the vermont cheddar mac and cheese. I asked for my pork to be cooked well done and it came a little bit more than well done. The ratio of pork to grits was also crazy. I had three decent size peaces of pork with what seemed like a couple table spoons of grits. Felt more like I was just eating a plate of pork. My dates mac and cheese wasn't horrible but it left a lot to be desired  It also had a weird after taste.
Overall I would go back because the experience was great. The food wasn't the best bet there are plenty of other things to try on the menu.
